Roughly fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials say initial examinations show the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism rendered him without words and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
